Every November, I dedicate 30 days to gratitude. This year, I’m focusing on what we share. I hope My Gratitude Project will serve as a tiny antidote to the division that is driving so much of our public discourse.
Each week, I’ll focus on a theme that is a source of joy and happiness to people everywhere. Even in the darkest times, as when we are mourning or something is going wrong, we are often startled by little moments that bring us joy. How can the world be so beautiful when we are suffering? How can someone be so thoughtful when others are gloating at our sorrows?
This is the power of gratitude itself, the moment we realize that there is still good in the world, that the world itself and life itself is ipso facto good, that we are made with an infinite capacity to enjoy and experience happiness.
This is Day 1 of My Gratitude Project. This year I’m focusing on what we share.
