Affirmations are not at all like “fake it till you make it.” They are about actually believing in yourself. When that happens, you start making it true.
Affirmations are a powerful tool for breaking bad habits, easing fears, and motivating action. According to Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) scientists, these simple statements of the ideal state you want rewire your brain to believe and you start acting as if it’s true.
Self-confidence creates a foundation for better emotional intelligence. My new blog at Ace-Up explains how affirmations work and how you can write one to help you believe in yourself.
Self-confidence is fundamental to success. No one can believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself. Did you know that we can feel each other’s emotions? If you have ever been an a movie theater and noticed that the funny parts are funnier and the scary parts are scarier than when you watch at home, you have experienced the power of how other people’s emotions amplify our own. When you doubt yourself, you cause others to feel doubtful about you.
It’s really hard to build self-confidence if you have not grown up believing in yourself. But it’s worth the effort. One of the easiest ways to start believing in yourself is an affirmation, a statement of belief in yourself that you commit to saying 25 times a day for 25 days. It’s seems simple, but it’s hard. There will be days that you don’t want to say you believe in yourself, but those are the most important days to commit to saying it. You are changing the way your brain works, so it’s worth the effort.
