I offer a number of stand-alone team training presentations designed to help teams perform better.
Topics include:
- An introduction to emotional intelligence for high performance. This is a 2 x 90 minute presentation that introduces the concepts of emotional intelligence to a team and offers a foundation for building human-centric management and communication skills. The presentation is focused on the five skills that consistently show up in effective leaders: self-regard, emotional self-awareness, emotional self-expression, empathy, and decision making. This presentation is a great way to kick off coaching for your team members.
- How to Have Effective 1:1s. The one-on-one meeting is the most effective management tool a manager has. If your organization is not doing them, this 90-minute presentation will introduce your team to the best practices of high performance managers. They will leave knowing how to increase morale, boost performance, stretch and develop employees’ skills, and help identify, as early as possible, any obstacle that threatens an employee’s or team’s success. This presentation is most effective as a follow up to the introduction to emotional intelligence.
- An Introduction to Skill-Based Hiring. A 90-minute introduction to the key concepts, skills, techniques and tools that help the people actually responsible for hiring develop a process that will result in better team members. I explain the skill-based hiring tools that help them attract, understand, and evaluate candidates. This is a workshop for managers or teams in small to medium-sized businesses who are expected to manage the hiring and team building process and who want better results without expensive HR interventions.
- On-Boarding. If you are building a team, reorganizing former teams, or bringing on new team members, thoughtful on-boarding will increase the chance that your new team members will learn what they need to thrive. People in a new job or role, even within the same company, learn 70% of what they need to know on the job. To increase the chance that any person newly hired or promoted will succeed, a well designed on-boarding process identifies what they need to learn, introduces them to important processes, facilitates key relationship building, and allows them to bring new ideas and thoughtful suggestions for improvement and change to the organization.
- A Workshop for Positive Team Communication. This is a presentation for teams that have fallen into negative patterns like interpersonal conflict, power struggles, and other distractions to turn around and build a more positive team culture. It includes a brief introduction to emotional intelligence and how conflict can distract from and lower performance. It also includes self-assessments, time for small group discussions, and honest sharing of what motivates and works for teams so they can begin to rebuild a culture that is more positive and supportive of all team members. This presentation is a great way to kick off a team coaching engagement.
I customize all presentations to the team and work through a process with the client to understand team needs, to ensure alignment of goals and topics covered, and to tailor stories and examples to industries that are relevant to the organization. If you have a need not covered here, contact me to discuss a customized presentation to help your team overcome current barriers and learn how to achieve higher goals.
